Sauerwein & Schaefer Bau AG is a Swiss based international developer, investor and contractor for large scale infrastructure projects in Eastern Europe and Turkey. Founded in 1912, SSB AG has developed a range of different projects across multiple sectors with a recent key focus on energy and transport.

Together, with crucial strategic relationships developed over the past 100 plus years of successful operation with industry leading experts, SSB AG is able to develop and foster the full life cycle of projects including planning, investment, construction and operation and maintenance.

Since its inception in 1912, SSB SAUERWEIN & SCHAEFER has taken part in many prestigious projects and has become a leading figure in the European construction industry. The SSB Group gained its reputation delivering high-quality projects including residential, industrial and public buildings, roads, bridges and power plants.

Bridge construction

In bridge building we can look back on an extensive array of successfully completed projects. These large-scale projects include major motorways and bridges such as the bridge spanning the river Fulda and the bridge over the river Weser, to mention just a few.

Motorway

SSB AG completed their first Motorway project back in 1935 – a section of the Kassel autobahn. This led to the award of further sections of the autobahn, laying the foundations for the rapidly expanding company.

Commercial and residential buildings

SSB AG has completed various residential and commercial buildings dating back to 1938. Projects include the construction of the Kassel cathedral and the ARGE Grüner Weg kindergarten.
