The project is the missing link of the Turkish TEM Project with the travel distance between the Ankara and Nigde provinces being reduced by approximately 40 km. The Project is expected to significantly ease the flow of traffic and in addition strengthen the social and commercial relations between the northwest and southeast of Turkey.<\/p>\n
The project, with an operational period of 15 years, is expected to drastically enhance economic growth, trade options and also the logistics capacity between multiple districts through the elimination of existing physical barriers. When the Project is complete, the railway distance between Izmir and Ankara will be reduced to 624 kilometres from 824 kilometres and travel time will be reduced to 3 hours 30 minutes from 14 hours by the existing rail indirect routes. The Project will pass through the cities of Ankara, Afyon, U\u015fak, Manisa and end in Izmir.<\/p>\n
Specifics<\/strong><\/p>\n The funding for the Project is supported by a Buyer Credit Facility from the UK Export Finance (the official British Government credit guarantees department) with additional re-insurance components coming from various European countries. The project is due to be completed in 2025 and is a major milestone in taking transport infrastructure to the next level in Turkey.
